Describe, Analyse, Interpretation, Judgment

Miwa Matreyek created the animation called ‘Glorious Visions’ in the year 2010.

Describe:
  • In this video I could see a lot of the creators hands and her body, buildings, foods and lights.
  • There were forests, skyscrapers, apples, eggs, a cake, candles, fruits, plates and oceans.
  • The first thing I notice when I watch the animation is the creators hands doing things that would not be able to do easily.
  • At first the colours are dark but brighten up to warm colours, very colourful and welcoming.
  • The shapes that I see are soft and delicate, they flow really well with the concept and help describe how the video will proceed onto.
  • The overall visual effect and mood of this work is slow and quiet, it intrigues us as viewers the go on and keep watching. The mood could be considered as depressing but to others as a way of showing re-creation.

Analyse:
  • The artist organised the elements of the video as show different types of styles but somehow they fit together to get through to audience the artists concepts.
  • The colour used in this work shows the emotion of the video and how the artist feels about problems she feels are major in our life today.
  • The light in this work was used to the advantage of showing the emotion of the video and how it showed the types of places and good or bad.
  • The overall visual effect or mood of the work had been achieved by the use of elements or art and principals was very well done to fit the video and concept of it.

Interpretation
  • The artist was definitely making a statement in this work, I feel she was trying to to get across that we are destroying what we have and we are changing what we have grown up with to different thing that we believe are better but aren’t necessary better.
  • This means to me that we need to realise what we are doing and try to fix it.
  • When I look at this animation I feel some regret and sadness.

Judgment:
  • I do this this work has an underlying value or worth depending on who’s watching, to me it does because the artist is really trying to get an opinion across.
  • I don’t feel that the subject matter is not unappealing, unimaginative or repulsive but it could to others.
  • I don’t feel that the work falls somewhere in-between, either you like and agree with it or you don’t like it and disagree with it.

Names

I tried to fit in three simple names but didn't quite finish the last one, I only have a few more names then I will be putting together the whole animation.

Names

I did the two names really quickly this lesson they were really easy to do and I didn't have a problem with them.

Names

Again I did two names this lesson, both these names took awhile to do but I just finished them and I was happy.

Names

In this lesson I did two names because they weren't as detailed, I really enjoyed doing Cameron Diaz's name because I haven't done anything like it before.

Names

This lesson I did Nicki Minaj's name and it took me most of the lesson because there was a lot more detail in it than planned.

Names

I did these all in one lesson they will be included in the animation in the chorus.

Characters

This is Taylor Lautner, he is my last drawing and I am so happy with it. Next I need to draw all the celebrity names so hopefully it won't take long.

Characters

This drawing was done in under an hour and I still got a lot of detail in. I've only got one more character to do and I'm so happy at how they've all turned out.

Character

These are the Kardashions it, it took me two lessons to complete these drawings. It was a challenge to do all of this but I finished it and it looked pretty good.

Character

This is Justin Bieber I'm really happy with the way everything's going and the detail that I'm able to apply to the drawings.

Characters

This celebrity is Cameron Diaz, I was really proud of the detail I did in her dress.

Characters

I didn't have any problems drawing this picture, I think my skills are getting better and my animation is going to go just as I plan.

Characters

Today I did Katey Perry I didn't really know where to start, so I began with the skirt. Everything turned out alright and I'm getting better with the faces.

Characters

This lesson I drew Beyonce, she could be better but to time manage I try to stick to doing one person each lesson. I feel that my skills are increasing each lesson and I just need to keep working.

Characters

In my animation my kangaroo goes to Hollywood, into a videoclip, in this videoclip my kangaroo sees many celebrities. In this lesson I drew Sofia Vergara, it is my first drawing and I know there will be better ones to come. I did struggle when it came to doing her face but it worked out well.

Scene 2A

In this scene the kangaroo has jumped into the 'O' and has now come out of the 'O' of the Hollywood sign. Now he is in Hollywood in a video clip.

Scene 1B

This scene starts in Australia where a kangaroo is going along the beach and sees the world 'Holly' written in the sand, as a curious kangaroo he jumps onto the 'O' and ends up in hollywood.

Assignment for term 2 and 3

Brainstorming for my new assignment I knew I wanted to do most of it in anamationish. I wanted to do it in anamationish because I do really well in that area. My assignment is going to start in Australia with a kangaroo listening to a song and as he's listening he goes into the song, at first he likes it there but then gets intimidated and wants to get home.

Finish Product

Fifth Layer - Finished

To finish the 'dark' emotion (top right) I did the colouring of her lips, I did a dark colour - blue because it fits with the rest of the photo and it finishes it off very well. To finish off the 'happy' emotion (bottom right) I did the colouring of Zahrah's hair, it was an easy was to finish it off because it was a large area to cover and I took pieces out of her hair then added them back in, in some places to make it look like her top was coming through.

Thursday 18 April 2013

Forth Layer

For the 'happy' emotion (top right) I did the top next doing all the top but with it still overlapping onto the hair so that when I did the hair and took some bits out the colour from the top to show through. Next on the 'dark' emotion (bottom right) I got into the facial features doing the eyes.

Third layer

For the third layer in the 'dark' photo (top right) I did the hair because I though that would be easier but I think I should of done the facial features next. For the 'happy' photo (right middle) I did a skin layer covering her whole upper half and took out colour where her eyes, nose, lips and shadows were. Then on the next 'happy' photo (bottom right) I did another layer of the original so that I didn't have to spend more time taking the skin parts off the clothing and hair.

Second layer

For the second layer on the 'happy' emotion (top right) I did the lips which I really should have left to last and it would probably complicate it later on. But in the 'dark' emotion (bottom right) I did the top next because I was trying to get the easy large spaces done, this was a much better option because it was easier to do the other features.

First layer

As I did the 'happy' emotion (top right) first I didn't know what to start with so I started with something familiar which was the lips. But as this went along I probably would have been more successful doing the lips further along which is what I did in the 'dark' emotion (bottom right).

Backgrounds

These backgrounds I have chosen really make an impact on what the emotion would be and and would set the colour theme for the piece. At first it was difficult to get a background for the 'happy' emotion (top right), the background was to small for the original, Mr Powell told me what the right size was and what I have now is perfect.

Plans

For this assignment I will be doing photos of Zahrah. I'm doing two photos of her to show two different sides of her, bright and colourful and dark and sad. I decided to do this because it would be good to gather photos and challenge myself in these ways.

These photos I've taken, the first one she is smiling and happy and the second one is a fake smile that shes forcing.

Tuesday 26 March 2013

nearly finished

With my first photoshop of Zahrah out of the way I started on the second one. It was all going well but when it came to editing the things I added to it, it wouldn't let me. As Mr Powell was away I couldn't fix it I tried my best. With this happening I definitely think my first photoshop (happy) of Zahrah is much better than the second. I'm still happy with end product but I know it could have been better.

Step back

I had started my first picture of Zahrah, there were some difficulties but one afternoon my USB got wet and I lost everything! This did make me distressed but I started over looking for new pictures and starting it again. I think even though I had to start again it's even better now.

assignment

For my assignment I'm going to do two pictures or zahrah, one showing the happy and colourful side of her and the other showing the dark and sad part of her. To do this I'm going to change her eye, lip, top, skin and background colour to fit these emotions.

Experiments

While Mr Powell was away and I had finished updating my blog I played around with some different experiments to figure out what I wanted to do for my assignment. These are some I did...
